Do It Yourself Car Audio
Car owner always wanted their car to look good and they find it cool to have stereo or music in it. Installing stereo is a simplest upgrade in car. You can pay a technician to do it for you. But, you can also do it yourself car audio setting up to save money by following the steps below.
Car Audio DIY steps:
- The first thing you need to do in DIY car audio is to choose the right stereo that meets your car audio. You need to check the size of the stereo and identify the system that will suit to your vehicle.
- Now here is the challenge in car audio does it yourself. The connecting of the stereo to the vehicle. First you need to simply substitute the wiring groups into corresponding outlets in the stereo back. You may need wiring harness in case of an incompatible wiring to group the wires in your vehicle to fit in the new stereo. Car audio does it yourself installing process are the following:
1. Disconnect and unscrew the bolt that holds negative battery cable clamp to the terminal. Remove also the old factory stereo of the car and disconnect the wiring harness.
2. Find a place in your car to put the speakers.
3. Route the wires of the speakers to the stereo. The right routing of wires will vary on the type of vehicle. You may need an expert to consult it.
4. You can now DIY car audio connect the stereo to the speakers. If speakers are wired to an electrical connector, just simply plug the connection or you may connect by crimping or soldering the wires by yourself.
5. Connect now the amplifier to the stereo if they are separate. Usually, stereo and amplifiers are connected by cables. Stereo is then mounted in the dashboard or mounting bracket or the combination of both. Place your amplifier in a secure area, like underneath seats.
- Wiring car audio DIY steps:
1. You can connect the wires together by crimping or by soldering. Crimping will include twisting of the wires as one as they line side by side. Insert the leads into crimping cap and tight it by a crimping tool. In soldering, twist the leads as one and apply soldering gun with the solder touching the wire, then fill the leads with heat-shrinking tubes.
2. Connect the speaker wires in their corresponding colors, usually gray wire to the right front speaker, white to the front left speaker, green to the left rare and purple wire to the rear right. The wire cables with black stripe go to the negative leads and the plain will be at the positive leads. And generally, the orange color is for illumination.
3. Now connect the power wires. Generally, red wire is for power switched and yellow wire for stable power, the wiring harness is for the car starter. Connect the stereo and amplifier to the battery, but the stereo should be the only one connecting to the starter. Now connect stereo switch to the amplifier.
Connect the antenna lead to the stereo. Finally, you are done with do it yourself car audio
